VanCortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY
Mention a golf course and some folks might picture a posh country club with a hefty annual membership and green fees. We’re much more in favor of an equal opportunity kind of playing field. A place with open admission and priced for the general public. For our latest fall photo shoot not only did we visit a municipal golf course, but the single oldest public golf course in the United States: Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York City. It opened in 1895 and among the thousands who have teed off here you can count Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Sidney Poitier, Willie Nelson and even The Three Stooges (no kidding, we saw a photo), to name just a few.
